The CHST Exam is the test that you will be required to pass in order to receive your CHST certification, which stands for Construction Health and Safety Technician. The test must be passed if you plan to work as a certified safety professional on construction sites in North America. The test is comprised of 200 multiple-choice questions, and you have only four hours to complete it. Obviously, the CHST exam is quite challenging. There are ways, however, of preparing for it to give yourself an advantage when you walk into the testing center.
First, never forget that you are racing against the clock. Many people go into a kind of a daze and forget all about the clock when they are taking a long and important test such as the CHST. They come to a hard question and will spend ten or fifteen minutes trying to solve it. This is a recipe for disaster, as it leads to running out of time before answering all the questions. If you are stumped, move on and answer the easy questions, and then come back to the questions you skipped. If you are still unsure about the correct answer, make a guess. On the CHST, guessing cannot hurt you any more than a blank answer, and you might get the answer right.
Secondly, but just as importantly, be prepared when you walk into the test site on the big day. How do you do that? By making use of a good CHST study guide in the weeks leading up to the test. Make no mistake; the exam is very difficult, and you will need to prepare for it if you are going to have any hope of passing. Many, many people fail the CHST exam every year, and most of the time it is because they did not spend enough time prepping. Do not make that mistake.
If you are in the process of preparing for the CHST exam, you may want to consider using either a CHST exam study guide or CHST exam flashcards to understand the basic concepts or what will be covered on the CHST exam. CHST exam review and CHST exam are some good online CHST exam resources to use.
