The best way for an individual to prepare for any type of exam is for the individual to determine the material that the exam will cover and study that material. However, there may still be questions that an individual may have difficulty with even if he or she knows the subject that the exam covers very well. As a result, it is important for an individual to be able to find methods that he or she can use to answer difficult questions.
Fortunately, there are certain steps that an individual can take in order to make it easier for the individual to handle a difficult question. First, and most importantly, the individual should try NOT to panic if he or she encounters a question that he or she cannot answer. This is because panicking will not only make it more difficult to answer the question that the individual is having difficulty with, but will also make it more likely for the individual to have difficulty with the rest of the exam. The individual should simply try to take a deep breath, realize that it is only a single question, and try to relax. Second, the individual should reread the question if he or she is having difficulty. This is because people often make a question more difficult than it needs to be by misinterpreting the question. In other words, one of the reasons that an individual may be having difficulty in the first place is that he or she has misread the question and believes that it is stating something very different from what it is actually stating. Third, the individual should try to eliminate any choices that are obviously wrong. This works best on a multiple choice exam, but it can actually be applied to any situation in which the individual knows that it must be one of several answers. For example, if an individual is attempting to define a particular term, the individual may remember the definitions for several terms, but not remember which definition goes with which term. The individual, however, might be able to look at each term carefully and get clues as to which definition might make the most sense based on the term itself. Finally, if the individual is still not sure of the answer to a question, the individual should make an educated guess or skip the question and move on to the next question.
