There are a variety of different methods that an individual might use to study for a particular exam, including note taking, studying from flashcards, and using practice exams. However, note taking, practice exams, and flashcards are only a few examples of a variety of different methods that an individual might use to study for an exam and each method helps the individual study in a different way. In fact, even though an individual can use any of these methods to study for a particular exam, certain methods will often help the individual more in certain situations. As a result, an individual may want to determine which methods will be most effective based on the type of exam that the individual is about to take. In order for an individual to do this, however, the individual must understand that there are two primary types of exams that an individual will usually have to take at some point.
The first type of exam is sometimes referred to as a class-specific exam, which is a test that is designed specifically to test the students in a particular class or school about a particular subject. A class-specific exam is not intended to test a large variety of people about a particular topic, but rather one specific group of people at a particular school. The second type of exam is known as a standardized exam, which is a test that is designed to be taken by a variety of different people from different areas. A standardized exam is intended to make sure that each person is able to take a similar exam that can be scored in a similar format. The primary difference between the two types is that a class-specific exam is designed to be administered to a single group while a standardized exam can be administered to virtually anyone. This can be an important difference to recognize, as the setup of a standardized exam, as the name suggests, is standard for anyone taking the exam so the questions included on the exam may be different, but the format of the exam never changes. A class-specific exam, on the other hand, may vary greatly from group to group as the material that the exam covers and the manner in which the exam is scored depend on the specific class for which the exam was designed.
