Time Management Techniques

It is usually extremely difficult for an individual to find enough time to study for a particular exam or interview among all of the activities that an individual performs on a daily basis. Fortunately, there are certain techniques that will make it much easier for an individual to manage his or her time effectively and find enough time to study even if that individual has a busy schedule. Some of the most useful time management techniques that an individual might use to work enough study time into his or her schedule include making an activity schedule, prioritizing, and minimizing wasted time.

The first thing that an individual should do when attempting to find an appropriate amount of study time in a busy schedule is to create a detailed list of all of the activities that he or she carries out on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Once the individual has created this list, the individual should then determine exactly how much time he or she spends performing each activity, how much time the individual needs to sleep each day, and how much time the individual has remaining each day. The individual can then make a schedule indicating the times that he or she is busy with other activities. This will allow the individual to easily identify if there is a block of time in his or her schedule that is normally unused and schedule that time as study time. However, there may not always be unused time available if the individual has a very busy schedule, so the individual may have to prioritize his or her activities and his or her studying. For example, if the individual has a lot of extracurricular activities that he or she performs on a daily basis, the individual may have to identify activities that are less important to the individual and skip these activities in order to study. Unfortunately, since there are some daily activities that an individual should not skip such as sleeping, eating, and going to class, it may not always be possible to find enough study time even by eliminating other activities. As a result, an individual should take into consideration the length of time that the individual can study before he or she needs to take a break when scheduling blocks of study time, and make sure to study the material that he or she has the most difficulty with first, in order to make sure that the study time that is available is used in the most effective way possible.
